Who We Are
Cowgirl is born. Cowgirl held various roles on her family dairy growing up. She developed a deep understanding of good dairy stewardship. Itโs simple - keeping our cows happy makes for happy farmers. The key is to keep them clean and give them nutritious (delicious) food! In 2013, Cowgirl saw the opportunity at the intersection of happy cows and soil amendments. And Cowgirl Compost was born!
Weโre local farm kids, so we know the source of our products and know that compost is a vital part of sustainable soil management. Today, Cowgirl is a woman-owned small business headquartered in Boise, Idaho.
And we continue to be inspired by the family-oriented, hardworking people in Idaho agriculture.
It started with a cowgirl and a calf
The passion behind Cowgirl Compost started when a young girl raised her first dairy calf. A deep connection was made and developed over the years as she grew up on the family dairy farm in Southern Idaho. Throughout her youth, the cowgirl held various roles on the dairy and one simple idea stood out most to her: Happy Cows make for Happy Farmers. The key was to keep the cows clean and well fed. This simple idea of making cows happy was the beginning of Cowgirl Compost.
